History

The Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Civil Judge (Senior Division) Court of Kurung Kumey District is located at Malapu, near the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Koloriang, PIN code 791118. The Judicial Magistrate First Class-cum-Civil Judge (Junior Division) Court has been functional here since 2019, marking a major milestone, as prior to its establishment all cases of Kurung Kumey were heard at the District Court of Lower Subansiri, Ziro, which also organized Mobile Court/Circuit Court sessions in Koloriang from time to time.
Previously, the building was designated as the JMFC Court, Koloriang. However, following the posting of Smti. Epi Kapu on 19th July 2026 as Presiding Judge, the court has been upgraded and renamed as the Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Civil Judge (Senior Division) Court. At present, both the CJM and JMFC Courts are functioning in the same premises, with Smti. Epi Kapu also holding charge of the JMFC Court, thereby ensuring continuity and strengthening judicial services in the district.
